Earlier in my blog, I wrote about my personal experience regarding my hypothyroid diagnosis and needing to take medication for it. You can read that article here.
For the past year, during my research on the raw vegan food lifestyle, I would come across testimonies of others that had hypothyroid disease, and tested normal after following raw food lifestyle for about a year. This encouraged me, because I hate being dependent on pharmaceutical drugs or taking any kind of medicine. Doctors tell patients that once they begin thyroid treatment, it is a lifetime commitment. I’ve been taking thyroid prescription medicine since 2001, and even though I definitely felt better, I sincerely wanted to be well enough to not require it.
While in California this past summer on vacation, I went to a meeting presented by a naturopathic chiropractor and physician. He said that most thyroid patients can be cured of this disease and eventually no longer require medication to correct it. His guidelines were pretty simple, and most of them I was already following. I wrote a lot of stuff down while he was speaking, and now it seems I’ve misplaced my notes. But basically, he suggested following an organic, all natural, whole foods diet, avoiding any processed or manufactured food. Avoid baked foods as they now contain bromide, whereas they used to use iodine in processing. Bromide conflicts with the thyroid producing hormone. Avoid fluoride in water, toothpaste and any other foods that may contain it. Avoid chlorine in water. Get plenty of exercise, and sunshine whenever possible.
The one thing he did suggest that was new to me was to take iodine. I knew iodine was connected to thyroid health, but did not realize that it would actually improve a poor functioning or non-functioning thyroid. So when we got home, I started researching on the web to find the best possible type of iodine available.
After extensive research and looking over many different websites, I finally decided on Iosol Iodine. It comes in a small brown bottle with a dropper and I received it within a few days after ordering it. Plus, it was very affordable compared to many of the other alternative ‘thyroid’ products out there. It was only about $15 which is really cheap since I expect this one bottle to last me about a year!! The instructions were to put two drops into a glass of water each day, so I started taking the iodine along with my Armour Thyroid medicine.
Now I should add that the Armour Thyroid manufacturing company, Forest Laboratories, had discontinued manufacturing this medication sometime last Spring, and doesn’t plan to start up again until late October. Their website: http://www.armourthyroid.com/ actually says that their product is on ‘back order’ in some strengths due to a process change in manufacturing. Well, since my prescription dosage was 180 mg, that dosage strength was not available at any of the local pharmacies, or online pharmacies. I was only able to obtain my prescription in 60 mg. dosages. So as a result, I started taking two 60 mg pills each day along with my iodine. This means that I was actually taking less than what my doctor had prescribed.
I started this routine in June, and didn’t notice any new symptoms or issues in my thyroid health. Now I did start a new job which is actually quite physical, so I was pretty tired when I came home from work. I’m still trying to get used to this new job, since I’m only in my third week.
Last week I had my TSH levels tested with a simple blood test. I hadn’t had a blood test since June of 2006, and my doctor was not going to refill my prescription until she saw where my TSH levels were. My numbers in my 2006 test showed my TSH levels were 13.48, which is indicative of a low thyroid. Actually, that was the best number I’d had since being diagnosed. I remember my numbers being as high as 67!!
This time my numbers came out at .44!! That is almost hyperthyroid!! I thought the normal range was supposed to be 3-5 or somewhere around there. When I visited my doctor today, even she was surprised and asked me if there was something I was doing differently? I told her about how I’d changed my diet over a year ago to a high raw and organic vegan food lifestyle, that I do not eat any processed or packaged foods, avoid GMO foods, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, avoid fluoridated water and toothpaste, and that I’d been taking Iosol Iodine for the past two months now. She was visibly surprised, and pretty much speechless. Doctors are trained in med school that once a patient begins thyroid hormone treatment, they are on it for the rest of their life. I know because that was all I’d ever been told.
So she lowered my prescription dosage to 120 mg, and said to keep doing what I’d been doing. I can schedule another blood test whenever I want, and we’ll see how the numbers stack up in the next few months. She agreed that I do no not want to stop taking the medication cold turkey, but gradually reducing the dosage is fine. Needless to say, I’m very excited and happy that I am able to reduce my Armour thyroid dosage, and hopefully, someday soon, be completely healed and no longer require it.
Below is an article from Dr. Bryon Richards about thyroid health and iodine:
Iodine is absolutely vital for the formation of thyroid hormone in the thyroid gland. Adequate iodine is also needed to block various compounds from binding to the thyroid (fluoride, perchlorate, goitrogens in food). Iodine is also needed to assist the metabolism of estrogen in a healthy way (high estrogen blocks thyroid function) and iodine is needed to assist various hormone receptors throughout the body to work properly. Iodine is essential for brain function and intelligence.
I rely on a product called Iosol Iodine for needed iodine supplementation. I like it because ammonium iodine rapidly dissociates and forms free iodide, the exact form your body needs (1.8 mg a drop). By comparison, Lugols and Iodoral contain the potassium salt of iodine which I don’t feel is as efficiently metabolized. Many people use up to 5 drops of Iosol per day (if it can be observed that it helps the person warm up and sustain energy), I would never recommend 25 - 50 mg of a supplement containing potassium iodide.
In fact, I won’t put potassium iodide in any supplement I design. One cause of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is excessive potassium iodine from sea vegetables like kelp, which is how the problem was first discovered. This means that potassium iodine has been shown to clog the thyroid gland and shut it down on too much intake. I have never seen such a problem from Iosol in two decades of use.
Thyroid hormone (T4) is composed of four molecules of iodine attached to one molecule of tyrosine. A lack of either nutrient makes it difficult to form thyroid hormone.

What’s In That? How Food Affects Your Behavior
Food additives and poor diet could help explain poor school performance, criminal behavior, alcoholism, and the growing numbers of Alzheimer’s patients.
According to Dr. Russell Blaylock, high sugar content and starchy carbohydrates lead to excessive insulin release, which in turn leads to falling blood sugar levels, or hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia causes the brain to secrete glutamate in levels that can cause agitation, depression, anger, anxiety, panic attacks and an increase in suicide risk.
The glutamate that causes this is identical to the flavor-enhancing monosodium glutamate (MSG) and its chemical cousins, which are found in thousands of food products, further exacerbating the problem.
Repeated hypoglycemic episodes increase the risk of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s). In children, hypoglycemia often leads to hyperactivity. In both children and adults, it can cause violent and aggressive behavior. In older people, there can be mental confusion.
I suffered from hypoglycemia before switching to a high raw vegan diet. I used to have to eat 3 square meals a day, or 5 small meals so that my blood sugar would stay normal. If I went without food for more than 4 hours, I’d get dizzy, cranky, weak, and extremely irritable. When I changed my diet, my hypoglycemia was the last thing on my mind, but it was definitely a blessing when I realized that I no longer needed to eat large meals, or many small meals each day. Now, I only eat about 2 meals a day, my first meal not being until almost 10 or 11 am. And I eat because I’m hungry, not because I’m weak, or losing my ability to function normally. Eliminating processed foods and animal products will help anyone, child or adult with hypoglycemia symptoms. Also it is important to eliminate or limit sugars and starchy foods.
Dr. Mercola wrote:
Americans spend about 90 percent of their food budget on processed foods, which contain a staggering number of artificial food additives, preservatives, colors and flavor enhancers. It’s virtually impossible to identify them all and ascertain their true impact on your health.
However, some we know more about than others. For example, there’s a substantial body of evidence backing up the claim that sugar, artificial sweeteners and MSG have a radically negative impact on your body.
Dr. Mercola wrote an entire book just on artificial sweeteners, called Sweet Deception: Why Splenda, NutraSweet, and the FDA May Be Hazardous to Your Health.
Another recent article addressed other hazardous food additives that should be avoided, such as: Continue reading…
Well, summer’s here and the living is easy… or that’s what they all say, right? We’re vacationing here in San Luis Obispo, California, our hometown. Came out for a family reunion, and it has been fun although VERY hot… record breaking heat of 110 degrees so far. Extremely unusual heat for this part of California. We thought we’d be out here cooling off from the heat and storms in the midwest!
So how do we stay on our raw vegan food lifestyle while on vacation? Well, to put it bluntly, it’s not easy!! Seeing our family is more important than our food, so we have to relax a little bit about what we eat. But our first challenge started on the airplane!! Going through security was no picnic (no pun intended) and we were not allowed to bring in our own water, only water that was bought inside security (for about $3!) so we waited until they offered beverages to get some water. Of course, they don’t serve meals anymore unless you want to cough up $6 for something that looks like it was rolled over by a freight train first then slopped on a plastic plate. We brought fresh fruit, raw trail mix, and my Raw4Healing Energy bars. That worked out just fine for us… but it’s important to remember when traveling by air or car to keep meals light. The stress of traveling causes my system to tighten up, and so I just have to live with the gas and bloating for awhile. I learned that this is true for most people. Trying hard to avoid IBS issues, we both kept it pretty light, but I still had to deal with some IBS that took a couple of days to pass.
Needless to say, keeping true to our raw vegan food diet has it’s moments and challenges while staying with my in-laws, who love food, and love to eat. Thankfully, they are very supportive of our healthier food choices, and have given us both lots of opportunities to share the benefits of a raw food lifestyle. There are quite a few family members here who are not yet ready to give up their favorite foods. I brought my blender and make green smoothies, which everyone enjoys. And I’ve also made a few dishes that have been well received, but it’s always a side dish, they still like their main meat or chicken dish and other cooked foods, and that’s fine. We didn’t come out here to force our healthy beliefs down everyone’s throat, because it’s a personal choice. Each person has to do what they feel is right for them. What’s more important is our precious time with our beloved family and friends, and catching up on all the new members (lots of marriages lately) and new babies. We can only try to be an example and let them decide. After all, as I always say, it’s your body, and it’s your choice. I just know what works for me.
Larry, of course, is surrounded by Mom’s cooking, in the house he grew up in. Kind of hard to break that tradition. He knows he’ll have some detox to deal with when we get home, and of course he doesn’t want to be rude either. I’m glad to say that he has been more disciplined about cutting back on his portions and filling up on salads and fresh fruit. He also told me that his system is starting to ‘bark’ at him a little due to eating more cooked and processed foods. Oh well, it’s only for a couple weeks… he’ll be back on track when we return home.
I made some really yummy raw cacao balls for our reunion potluck. I’m trying to think of a better name for them. Sounds like ‘cow balls’ which doesn’t quite sound right LOL! Maybe Cacao Coconut Balls? That’s better… here’s the recipe I made up:
Cacao Coconut Balls
Note: All ingredients should be organic whenever possible
2 cups cashews and almonds (soak for a few hours)
6 large dates, soaked for a few hours
1/4 cup raw honey
2 tbsp raw agave
2 heaping tbsp raw cacao
1 cup raw shredded coconut
1 tsp vanilla
Drain the water from the nuts and dates. Blend the dates and some of the nuts in a high speed blender til the dates are all pureed. Add the rest of the nuts, honey, agave, cacao, coconut, and vanilla and blend on high, stopping it to push everything down towards the blades. This takes a while, just keep blending on short spurts of high speed, and pushing it back onto the blades until it’s all blended well. It should be stiff and sticky. Empty into a bowl and begin rolling into balls. Dip the balls in shredded coconut and finely chopped almond. Refrigerate for a few hours. Eat and enjoy!! I like this because it is quick and very simple, and very good too! A big hit!
It’s always easy to share raw food desserts since they are so good, and people cannot believe that there is no sugar, no flour, no unhealthy fats, etc. And it tastes delicious! I have heard that some of the raw food gurus were introduced to the raw food lifestyle just from trying the raw desserts. We were invited to Larry’s brother’s house for dinner later this week, and he asked if I would bring a salad… sure I said. Then he was asking if rootbeer floats were okay, and I’m like, uh, no, don’t do soda, don’t do dairy, and I saw this didn’t help him at all… I said we don’t have to do dessert, but that didn’t fly, after all, Larry’s folks ALWAYS do dessert!! So I said, hey, instead of me bringing the salad, I’ll bring dessert. So I get to decide what to make. Thinking about my triple layer Raspberry Cacao NutCheese Pie with walnut crust? It’s so good… Here’s the recipe, you decide!

Raspberry Cacao NutCheese Pie
All ingredients should be organic whenever possible
Crust:
2 cups walnuts soaked several hours and rinsed
1 ripe banana
1 cup raisins
1 Tbs. fresh orange juice
Blend in the food processor until you get a sticky ball consistency. Press into your pie plate with wet fingers.
Candy layer:
2 Tbs. raw cacao powder
1 Tbs. coconut oil
1 Tbs. flax oil
1/2 tsp. raw honey
1/4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Mix well until smooth by hand and pour onto your pie crust. Place in the freezer while making the fillings.
Cashew layer:
2 cups cashews soaked 1 hour and rinsed.
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbs. coconut oil
1 Tbs. raw honey
1/2 tsp. salt
Blend ingredients in your vitamix or high speed blender only adding water if needed to blend smooth. You want this thick and creamy. Pour and spread over the candy layer.
Raspberry layer:
1 pint Mashed raspberries.
Spread over cashew layer.
Chocolate cream layer:
2 small avocados
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbs. raw cacao powder
2-3 Tbs. raw honey
2 Tbs. coconut oil
Just enough nut milk to blend (use your favorite)
Blend in the Vitamix until creamy and smooth. Spread chocolate cream over the raspberry layer and refrigerate the pie for several hours or until set up. You can also freeze it for 30 minutes for a quicker serve time. Do not totally freeze this pie because it will killl some of the enzymes.
Eating a dessert this rich may feel like a dietary sin, but it is ALL good! Eat, drink, and be truly merry!
Well, I don’t know if you have heard of Bill Maher, but he’s very vocal about how our food and water supply are deteriorating, and the increase of sickness and disease, along with rise of pharmaceutical use. This YouTube video has been around since September, but watching it again made me realize how right on he is. Hopefully it will help others recognize their dependencies on the pharmaceutical drug system, and make an effort to break free by changing to a healthier diet and lifestyle.
And to continue the topic about the medical and pharmaceutical industries, I came across this excellent video by Olivia Hadassah based upon her own personal experience. She studied to be a nurse and graduated with honors in 1990. In her profile on YouTube she writes: In 1990 I graduated from one of the top 10 nursing schools in the US with honors. Now I refuse to medicate patients and my blog exposes the Illuminati’s use of modern medicine to drug, poison and control millions in their pursuit of a New World Order.
Discover the truth about dangerous prescriptions, tainted vaccines, fluoride and chemtrails, and how to reclaim your health. Below is her expose on pharmaceutical drugs vs. nutrition and healing.

Recently, I was asked “What is a raw foodist?” Larry and I are both what is considered ‘high raw’ foodists. Which means, that we are vegan, in that we don’t eat any animal products which includes all dairy, eggs, yogurt, cheese, etc. And about 80-90% of our diet is raw vegan food. I enjoy creating dishes that taste like some of our favorites such as raw tacos, raw pizza, raw lasagna, all made with nuts and vegetables, and other ingredients that pull it all together. You’ll find these recipes and more when you subscribe to my my weekly Raw4Healing recipes.
Now some raw foodists will disagree with me on this point: I do not feel it is necessary to be 100% raw all the time, in fact, often times it simply is not realistic for most people. But I definitely feel that the benefits of an 80% to 100% raw food lifestyle far outweigh any other dietary choices out there. We enjoy some things cooked, like yams, brown rice, black beans, Lima beans, whole grains, etc. Larry still enjoys eggs occasionally and I’m not super strict about what he eats.
Basically, after having gone through detox, colon cleanses, etc. it’s okay to ‘fall off the wagon’ so to speak once in a while. Sometimes it can’t be helped, like when we go to the kids’ house for dinner, or family and friends get together. And if that’s the case, we’ll bring something from our kitchen to share. People have to do what is right for them, what works best for their lifestyle, and their families. But bottom line, it is important to look seriously at what is in our food, the quality of it, the chemicals, pesticides, preservatives, food colorings, artificial flavorings, MSG, GMO, hormones, etc., etc., and how it affects our health after eating this way for 10 - 20 years. That’s why so many chronic diseases occur in the 40 and over age group. We’ve been programmed to eat this way, and society constantly tells us to eat these processed foods. It’s on TV, newspapers, billboards, magazines, everywhere.
I’ve been a health nut all my life, I learned a lot from my grandparents, who took vitamins and were considered ’strange’ in their day. They became vegetarians back in the ’70s after my grandfather read about how animals are inhumanely treated and slaughtered, and the hormones, and pesticides that are in the beef and chicken. This all ends up on the table or in a restaurant. He immediately became a vegetarian, I remember it vividly. I was in my 20’s and it was pretty radical for our family that always had traditional turkey for thanksgiving and roast beef for Christmas, and ham for Easter!!
But they both lived to be 93 and 94 and would have lived longer if the doctors and prescriptions had left them alone, thanks to medical intervention.
Both my parents died from medical intervention, my dad of leukemia, and my mom from a rare debilitating paralyzing disease. My dad’s cancer went into remission when he started doing some natural treatments, holistic and nutritional therapy. But his doctor said it wasn’t going to work and insisted he go back for radiation and chemo… he died soon after that. My mom had a stiff neck, and some tingling in her legs, and the doctor wanted to do exploratory surgery on her neck at the famous Stanford Univ. hospital. She almost died on the table there twice. When they sent her home, she couldn’t walk, was paralyzed on her left side, and suffered that way the rest of her life. She was only 30 at the time, and lived to be 71, much longer than any of us kids expected.
After my grandparents and parents died, I started to do a lot of research. I didn’t want to be another statistic… and I knew I had some genes to fight against. This was back in 2005 right after my mom died, and I became a full blown vegan, having already been vegetarian most of my life. Last year, in researching for one of my other health sites, I learned that raw food was the next best step toward optimum health and healing. Thus, raw4healing.com was born.
Since then, my husband has lost over 40 pounds, and I have lost 20 pounds… and so many little health issues that we generally attribute to getting old are gone. Gone are migraines, hypoglycemia, arthritis, skin rashes, sleep disorders, mood swings, went through menopause without a hitch, constipation, joint pain and stiffness, all gone… we both have increased energy, and feel like we’re in our late 20’s.
Before attempting a food switch, it is important to find some books to read about it, or articles, but I like Dr. Mercola’s books. I also like David Wolfe’s, and my other favorite is Gabriel Cousens, “Conscious Eating”. The internet is LOADED with tons of free info, testimonies, etc., just Google ‘raw food’ and you’ll find all you need to know, plus what I have too, but don’t stop there. Plus, I should add it is best to check with your doctor, preferably a holistic practitioner, or a nutritionist who knows you and your health requirements.
Also, most people eat the SAD (standard American diet) and as a result, need to first go through a detox program. If constipation is a common health challenge, then ‘juice feasting’ helps to regulate elimination. This is what killed my mother. She was always constipated, trying all kinds of laxatives and in time, the toxins in her blood reduced her immune system, causing her heart to work harder, and she died of a heart attack. Part of it was because she was unable to be active due to her partial paralysis… but she almost always complained of constipation and I didn’t know enough at the time to help her.
So I started my detox program with fresh wheatgrass juice and carrot juice several times a day. This was before I learned about ‘juice feasting’ (consisting of fresh fruits and greens, like spinach, kale, romaine lettuce), which I also recommend but it requires a high speed blender, OR a food processor, then transferred to a regular blender. Two quarts a day for a week, to two weeks, or more and drink plenty of filtered water. Some people are very toxic and during the detox will experience headaches, cramps, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, but usually for only a few days… Then transition over to solid food, but only organic all natural fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Preferably 100% raw for a few months… after that, it becomes a personal thing, you learn what works for your own body. Like I can tell right away if something I ate is going to agree with me or not.
People complain that it is hard to give up the foods we grew up with, often times considered comfort foods. Dietary changes are a personal thing, each person needs to do their own research, and do what works best for them. Many people cannot or will not give up their favorite foods, but refuse to face the fact that they may actually be addicted to them. Thanks to scientific food engineering, they have done an excellent job of brainwashing and hooking the masses for profit, and certainly not for health!
What keeps me on the natural, vegan and raw path are the major conspiracies in our government and secret world organizations that control the quality of our food and water, and that our food is processed without any regard at all for our health, in fact it is designed to make us want it all the time, with artificial flavorings, colorings, etc., (consequently we have an extremely HIGH obesity rate nowadays) and also designed to destroy our health so that the medical INDUSTRY and pharmaceutical industries, and the major food corporations (yes, they are all in this together), can stay in business - stay rich… because if people get healthy, then they don’t make any money… and our government, the FDA, etc. all support this scheme. I urge people to do their own research about what is really happening behind the scenes with regard to the deliberate contamination of our food and water supply.
Many people reject what I say about our food being ‘designed’ to make us sick, either because they trust their government (after all we’ve been programmed to believe them, right?), or they feel helpless and powerless, which isn’t true. There are many activist groups that are more public and out in the open about these issues, marching in the streets with signs to protect our health freedom, before the cops come and take them away… and you won’t hear about it on your evening news.
A long time ago, I studied to become a nurse, only to drop out after learning that much of the training is about how to treat with drugs, etc. No nutritional training, and that is true for doctors, too. My sister in law is a charge nurse in a hospital, and she agrees with me 100% - we have great discussions. She said it is true that pharma reps come in with stacks of pizzas for the doctors and nurses, and they are trying to ’sell’ their drugs and literature to the nurses - and if that doctor or hospital ’sells’ enough of their drugs, they get kickbacks and dinners, and vacations, etc.
Needless to say, the raw vegan lifestyle is so much more than a dietary change. First, I feel it is following what God ordained in the beginning, in Genesis 1:29: “And God said, “See, I have given you every herb (vegetables) that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.” And second, it’s more than just improving our health; it involves every aspect of our lives, our relationships, our families, our environment, and what is going on behind the scenes that is never allowed to be made public. News and information that never makes it to the national TV networks, or newspapers. If you want to know, you have to dig, and be ready for surprises.
I think of John Lennon’s famous song: “Imagine”. Imagine world peace. Imagine global health. Imagine if everyone followed a high raw vegan diet. There would be no sickness and disease. No need for doctors and pharmaceutical drugs. Babies would be born healthy and grow up to be healthy and high functioning adults. People would be at peace with each other, there would be no wars because they would not be consuming foods that contain excitotoxins and high amounts of sugar and other chemicals that cause mood swings, aggressive behavior or mental health issues. There would be no need for raising beef and chicken, or for slaughterhouses, or dairies. The land would be cared for and fed organic natural compost fertilizer and used for growing crops that feed people, not cows or other animals. Our air quality would improve if we didn’t have methane gas that come from cattle farms. There are at least a hundred human and environmental benefits if everyone followed a high raw, vegan lifestyle. Maybe someday I can research that aspect of it and post it here.
Blessings!

From Maria Treben’s Book:
Health Through God’s Pharmacy (English Edition)
This awesome video is a must need for ALL people that are clueless that the food they eat is connected to their health and general feeling of well-being. The raw food lifestyle eliminates most all debilitating and chronic health issues, helps in losing excess weight, and gives you so much energy, it is absolutely unbelievable!
This video below is from Raw for Life and Raw for 30 Days. I urge you to seriously consider getting a copy to share with family and friends. Learn all you can about how you can improve your health, save money on health bills, and live a long, productive and high quality life.
My husband, Larry, says that I’m too vigilant, too radical sometimes when I share with others about vegan raw food and the health benefits. And he’s probably right. But since he’s lost over 30 pounds, he also agrees with me!
I care too much, love too deeply, and want so desperately to share with others that are blinded by today’s rich, greedy corporate bureaucracies. These societies and bureaucracies have a very strong hold on the general public as to how much good food they will allow the public to eat, let alone keep the information for real healing buried deep in the medical journals where no normal person will every find it. They control what is considered acceptable ‘good’ food, even the empty stuff that is processed, packaged, irradiated in pretty colorful packages that cost more than what’s inside.
It’s dead food, and dead food cannot build life. Living food builds life, health, and healing. You cannot put a price on that. Health is literally priceless. Almost everyone knows someone who has cancer, or some chronic health issue. I was just at an open house party the other night. Most of the guests there were in their 40’s - late 50’s. They ALL had health issues, had family with cancer; one lady I spoke with is getting ready to go into the hospital for surgery, and on and on about that hospital vs. this hospital, that doctor and this doctor…. WAKE UP PEOPLE!! Don’t you see what you are doing? You are doing EXACTLY what ‘they’ want you to do… pay attention to them, talk about them, see them and give them YOUR money. They don’t care about your health.
The other sad thing is that most people in the general public DON’T care about their health either. Because their confidence is in their doctors to fix whatever problem they will ever have. A simple prescription will take care of their ills. And the plot continues to thicken. Fix a problem with drugs, that will in the long run create more toxic issues, requiring more drugs…. and that’s what keeps the pharmaceutical companies RICH!!
I had a great chat with my lovely daughter Erin. She’s 21, beautiful and fit, in the prime of her life and tells me on the phone that she’s been told four different times that she has high blood pressure. Well, I began to ask her what her personal life is like… is she under stress, stuff like that. She didn’t think so. But when I asked her about what kind of food she was eating, it was mostly SAD stuff… coffee, cereal, milk, bagel/cream cheese, hamburger, tea or soda, cup ‘o noodles… “whatever,” she says.
I felt absolutely awful. I had been a health ‘freak’ most of my life, but failed to teach my daughter before she left home. Of course, that was four years ago, and I didn’t know what I know now. I was kind of just following the ‘flow’ back then, doing my own thing I guess….
I’ve learned so much… my raw journey is finally coming full circle. I am grateful to God for opening my eyes to see His truth. Genesis 1:29: “Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you.” No where do the scripture say “I have given you hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, drugs, dead animals and their byproducts, preservatives, food coloring, flouride, chlorine, denatured, junk and empty food to sustain your life with.”
I am so very grateful that I have overcome all my health issues with a raw food lifestyle and at 54, that is considered pretty unusual. I can share this wonderful testimony with my family, the community, even my church. If it helps to open the eyes of others so that they may see out from under the ‘cloud’ that they are under. That’s how I see so many people… I’m outside of that ‘cloud’ looking at the people and see them in the cloud, completely oblivious to it. Accepting whatever the ‘powers that be’ say.
So I spent about the next 30 minutes explaining to my daughter how food relates to her health. About the difference between raw and cooked food, enzymes and nutrients in the raw food, how it’s a better eco green way to live for our environment, to how we are all being manipulated and conveniently kept ’sick’ to keep the money coffers full for those in control. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have internet access in her studio apartment, but she can check her email from a friend’s computer, or an i-cafe. But at least she is very interested, and wants to know more. Thank you! At last my daughter is finally listening to me LOL!!!
I told her that if she went on a raw food lifestyle program, or even a high raw and vegan diet, that she would be able to retain her lovely youthfulness for many, many years. She would age so much slower than her peers. She will never have a weight problem. Her high blood pressure, and all other health issues, will go away.
I’ll send her some books, my Smoothies for Health, and help her get started with some of my favorite vegan, natural and organic recipes. First off, she can start very simply by making smoothies. Once she starts doing that, she’ll be on the path to improving her health.

In his book, Your Natural Diet, David Klein writes about how he got fed up with seeing doctors, having a myriad of tests run, and taking tons of prescription medicine for his Colitis and Crohn’s diseases. Someone told him about eating a whole living food diet, and to eliminate all animal products. It wasn’t easy, but when he started to make that transition, his colitis and IBS flare-ups began to subside. He committed to a 100% raw food vegan diet, and immediately began to feel better than he ever had felt before. This was almost 20 years ago. He went on to get his Ph.D in nutrition, and has been counseling others in transitioning to a natural vegan diet ever since. Today over 1,000 clients have been healed since 1993 on his medically endorsed vegan diet healing plan. On one of his sites: http://www.colitis-crohns.com/ he says:
Shelly Keck-Borsits went to hell and back with her health issues for many years before she made the connection of a raw, vegan food diet and her health. I wrote a post about her testimony here: http://raw4healing.com/health/dying-to-get-well and how she documented her story in a free ebook that you can download and read here:
http://www.abcinternetmarketing.com/dtgw/ebook/free/rawfoods/DTGW.pdf
She also bravely writes about the little known corporate conspiracy and cover up by the food manufacturing industries, and the medical and pharmaceutical industries. They are not concerned about improving your health, they’re primarily in business to make money, at the risk of your health!
I could write for days about all the testimonies of people getting healed by simply following a pure, natural, vegan diet. Not even necessarily 100% raw food, as it may seem pretty radical to some people. I’ve heard of health improvements on an 85% raw food diet. The main thing is to make the decision to stop eating packaged, processed, canned, pasteurized “food”. Food manufacturers spend more money on packaging and fancy color pictures on the boxes than they do on the junk inside!! More money is spent on preservatives, food colorings, and MSG than on the so-called food itself! It’s all about getting the consumer to see it, and then want it. They don’t care if it’s healthy for you. Remember, like I’ve said in my other posts, just follow the money trail.
But let me focus on the title of this post: Raw Food Diet Cures Fibromyalgia. I recently read Alissa Cohen’s book: “Living On Live Food” (which includes a DVD) and enjoyed it very much. She teaches a raw food certification course, and she shares many tasty recipes as well as her own
personal story. She was, what she calls a ‘quasi-vegetarian’ when she was sixteen. She wasn’t specifically concerned about health benefits, animal rights issues, or environmental concerns at the time. She just didn’t like red meat that much. Around this same time, she started working out in a gym, and began reading books on health and fitness. She read “Fit for Life”, “Diet for a Small Planet” and others promoting the vegetarian philosophy.
When she read John Robbin’s “Diet for a New America”, she immediately became a confirmed vegetarian. She was fascinated with Robbin’s theories on the physiological impact of eating animals, his exposition on its social, ecological, and economic consequences really blew her away. (It really impacted me, too, when I read John’s book; highly recommended reading!) As a result, she began reading more about how whole foods have a major influence on the overall health of our bodies.
Alissa thought that since she wasn’t eating meat, chicken, fish or eggs, that she was healthier than most people. But she was experiencing chronic illness, including constant yeast infections, and bladder infections. She was tired a lot, her skin was breaking out, she was having frequent headaches, and she couldn’t keep her weight down.
Seeing the doctor only aggravated her problem. He put her on antibiotics, which helped for a week or two. But she was constantly getting colds, her immune system was being weakened due to the continuous round of drugs she was taking. The various doctors she was seeing kept telling her she had a yeast infection, and kept prescribing her antibiotics and other drugs. This regime went on for two years! And she was getting worse. At the age of twenty-two, she began to feel like a very old lady, with no energy, tired and achy all the time.
Finally, a doctor recommended laparoscopy. This was to be exploratory surgery involving a fiber optical instrument to be inserted into the abdominal wall through the navel in order to examine the organs. It was painful and intrusive, and yielded no new information. And yet, further exploratory surgery was suggested. That’s when she said NO! No more!
As her depression grew worse, she began to listen to her gut feelings and researched holistic practices. When she wandered into a local health food store, and discovered a book call “The Yeast Connection”, she writes that “Purchasing and reading that book was a life changing decision for me.” She learned how the food she was eating was contributing to her yeast infection. She visited a holistic practitioner who confirmed what she had read in the book and he told her that changing her diet will help to rid herself of the yeast infections, and improve her immune system as well.
She had Candida and Fibromyalgia and a host of other ailments and after seeing the holistic practitioner, she immediately changed her diet to nothing but 100% raw vegan food. She found that when she ate so called good vegetarian foods (steamed veggies, rice, tofu, etc.) she would feel lethargic and foggy-headed. But her body would buzz and her energy began to soar when she ate raw fruits, vegetable, nuts and seeds. Her back didn’t hurt, her Candida went away within days! She couldn’t ignore how she felt when she ate raw compared to when she ate cooked food. The concept of eating whole foods full of life energy and enzymes made so much more sense than eating dead cooked foods.
At the time, the only information available was Dr. Ann Wigmore’s book “Recipes For a Longer Life”. She teaches how living foods create live bodies, dead foods produce dead bodies. This impacted Alissa so much she began eating only raw foods.
After just a few months on the raw food diet, Alissa had no symptoms of Fibromyalgia, her Candida was gone and she felt better then she had since her teenage years. Her energy shot through the roof and she began to look younger and younger, and was more positive and happy. Soon, she began to share this diet with others and found they got the same kind of results. She knew she had found the perfect way to eat for her and, for others as well.
Since then, Alissa became a nutritional counselor, polarity therapist and personal fitness trainer. She has certifications in energetic bodywork, holistic counseling and nutrition, and opened her own health food store. She was experimenting with raw food before much information was out there, and as result, began to teach herself and work with many well-respected teachers and trailblazers in the raw food movement.
So what is the best way to get into raw foods?
Everyone is different. The very first time I learned about raw foods was actually several years ago. I was researching the benefits of a vegan diet, and stumbled on some information about raw foods. I had also read Dr. Ann Wigmore’s book back in the late 1970’s about the health benefits, and cancer fighting properties of a raw food diet, but it just seemed like too much work. And that is really what many people first think when learning about a raw food diet. There is a little bit of a learning curve as well. Preparing meals with fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds is VERY different than what we grew up with. Learning to make a ‘cheese’ with raw cashew nuts or pine nuts, corn tortillas with a dehydrator, and noodles with zucchini is radically different than what we’re used to. But the benefits are so awesome, I can never go back.
I’ve been almost 100% raw for nearly a year now, having been a total vegan for many years before that. But it wasn’t until I started eating more raw fruits and vegetables, and learning to prepare delicious raw food meals, when my own health issues began to disappear. My skin rashes and scalp problems cleared up, my muscle and joint pains are gone, I no longer wake up with stiff, swollen hands in the morning (water retention), my hypoglycemia is gone, I sleep less, I weigh less than I did in high school, and I have more energy than I’ve ever had in my whole life. And my husband has lost over 30 pounds in less than three months, is able to reduce his asthma medicine, and has more energy than ever before.
For some people that decide to start eating a whole, living and raw food diet, they feel they need to transition slowly, while others are ready to jump right in. Generally, it is recommended that people should start 100% raw right away. Usually, when people go slow they simply just never get there. They’re not committed, and get side tracked and eventually lose momentum. When you’re not eating 100% raw, the results are slower and the motivation is lost since the results are not quick enough. Read books, search the internet, attend some local raw food classes and find out for yourself what the best way to do this diet is. I do think that raw food is for everyone but that doesn’t mean that everyone should have the same raw food diet. This diet can be tailored to your needs and your situation. No one way will work for everyone, some people eat mostly fruit, some more fats and proteins, others more of a mono diet and so forth. You need to experiment and see for yourself what works best.
I have found that for those new to this lifestyle, the easiest and healthiest way to transition is to go on a ‘juice feast’. A juice feast is simply blending fruits and vegetables in a high speed blender, and literally ‘drinking your food.’ This provides your body with the maximum amount of nutrition, is very filling and satisfying, and at the same time, it allows your body to detox. Many health issues are the result of built up toxins and poisons in your system from eating a standard American diet (SAD). On a juice feast, you don’t have to worry about preparing special raw food meals, take the time read some raw food books with recipes, and do some shopping. Some juice feasts can last from three days to 92 days, like the current Global Juice Feasting program.
There are some problems when people transition to a raw food diet. They might get too strict. They try to eat a mono diet. They start fasting. They cut out nuts. They start thinking one food is not good, that fruits are too high in sugar, they shouldn’t have as much fat, they should not eat too much, etc. Eating raw food is drastically different to what most people are used to eating. What makes people think that eating an extra piece of fruit or more raw nuts will be the worst think in the world when just a week before they were eating pizza, ice cream and Mexican food? On this diet, people tend to go to the extreme. Raw food is extreme enough for most people. Just relax around it and have fun with it. And some people think that a raw food diet consists of nothing but fruit and salads all the time. Oh, it is so much more than that! There are so many awesome and wonderful, easy to prepare raw food recipes that are alive with flavor, and full of nutrition and enzymes.
Another major pitfall is not having food in your house. You need to make sure you have enough food so that when you get hungry you can eat! For some reason when people go raw, they don t think they need to have a lot of raw food in their home. But you would have cooked food if you were eating a cooked food diet! Make sure you know how to make some good raw food meals so when you re hungry you know how to whip something up so you don t find yourself driving to the nearest fast food chain restaurant.
In summary, if you are really serious about improving your health, losing weight, and having more energy than you know what to do with, then you want to learn all you can about how to change your diet to a natural, vegan raw food lifestyle. Think of it as an investment, not only in your own health, but in your family, children and even your friends. Once you begin to share the benefits of this new lifestyle, think of the impact you will have on those around you. Especially children. Do you realize that children raised on a raw food diet are healthier, smarter, and have far less discipline problems? They do not have ADHD symptoms, obesity problems, (both of which are now considered to be at epidemic proportions with our children today), or even discipline issues. If parents were to change their diet in addition to putting their children on a raw food diet for just two weeks, they would never look back. I know I never did!!
Since I have changed over to a pure, organic raw food lifestyle, I have literally NO FEAR of cancer (even though it is in my family history), or of heart disease (also in my family history) or any other debilitating, chronic health issue. I no longer get strange lumps in my breast that used to cause me to be alarmed and run to my nearest doctor for an ultrasound. I haven’t had a mammogram in several years since I believe that regular high doses of radiation from the mammogram itself are cause enough for alarm.
If you’ve been around the raw food health movement for any length of time, you will quite likely encounter Mike Adams, also known as the “Health Ranger” of Natural News on the web. He totally endorses a lifestyle change to organic and healthy food, exercise, and education about how the quality of the food you put in your mouth is relevant to your overall health, and how it can help you avoid sickness and disease.
The article below is from his Natural News site, and I just had to post it since I have always believed that programs and organizations that are designed to ‘supposedly’ help find a cure for cancer, or bring a greater awareness about cancer, are really just a ploy to instill fear and get you to see a doctor, undergo a gamut of tests, begin a lifetime regime of prescription medicines, etc., etc., and are really just another gimmick to line the pockets of those individuals and leaders that are in control

Comments by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
You’ve already seen the headlines touting October as breast cancer awareness month. A zillion products are available in “pink” editions now, and gullible consumers snatch them up at retail outlets without knowing a single thing about where that money goes or even what percentage of their product sale is donated to cancer non-profits. (For many products, the amount donated is mere pennies, and much of the donated money goes to worthless cancer maintenance non-profits that have no interest in actually preventing cancer…)
The level of hype and propaganda in this year’s breast cancer awareness month has risen to a new low. The American Cancer Society, as usual, appears to be absolutely worthless in all this, still failing to teach women the No. 1 way to prevent a whopping 77 percent of all cancers: Sunlight and vitamin D.
The ultra-wealthy ACS non-profit, with all its ties to pharmaceutical companies and mammography machine manufacturers, still refuses to openly urge women to prevent breast cancer by getting more vitamin D through nutritional supplements or sensible sunlight exposure. In fact, the organization continues to warn people away from sunlight, actually contributing to the mass vitamin D deficiency that’s now rampant in western nations (including the
Vitamin D deficiency greatly reduces the body’s ability to halt the growth of cancer tumors. That’s why higher amounts of vitamin D circulating through the blood have been shown again and again to dramatically reduce the growth of cancer tumors, keeping them in check and preventing a breast cancer diagnosis. Over 75 percent of all breast and prostate cancers could be avoided through vitamin D therapy alone.
Amazingly, the American Cancer Society appears to have no interest in vitamin D. How could it be that this cancer-centric non-profit wouldn’t be interested in a free therapy that could eliminate up to three-fourths of all future cancers? Shouldn’t this be the No. 1 headline around the world during breast cancer awareness month? Shouldn’t the ACS be screaming this fact to anyone who will listen?
But of course not. In my opinion, the American Cancer Society has no interest whatsoever in actually preventing cancer. In my view, it is only interested in promoting the screening and treatment of cancer because that’s what makes money for the financial supporters of the ACS. In fact, the ACS recently restructured its own priorities to focus more on screening and treatment, and less on cancer prevention.
What’s missing from the risk factors list?
Hilariously, the ACS now says there are only four major modifiable risk factors that impact your risk of breast cancer. They are:
• Weight
• Alcohol use
• Smoking
• Exercise
Where is vitamin D on the list? It remains suspiciously absent.
Strange, don’t you think? The single most powerful anti-cancer nutrient known to modern science — one that helps halt the growth of virtually all tumors in the body while reducing breast cancer risk by 77 percent — isn’t on the American Cancer Society’s list! (See our article reporting this finding at http://www.NaturalNews.com/021892.html )
Has the ACS failed to read the research on this nutrient? Could the most miraculous anti-cancer nutrient known to modern science have somehow slipped by the astute scientists at the ACS?
Some intelligent outside observers might conclude that the ACS is either hopelessly ignorant about nutrition or that it simply has no interest in promoting anything that would financially harm its primary supporters (drug companies and oncology equipment manufacturers).
Think Before You Pink
Amid all the mindless reporting about breast cancer awareness month in the mainstream media, there is at least one blip of intelligence on the radar: The Think Before You Pink campaign by Beast Cancer Action (http://www.bcaction.org), a much better informed anti-cancer non-profit led by Barbara Brenner in
The American Cancer Society, on the other hand, takes all sorts of money from companies that profit from cancer. Some might argue that’s why the ACS — often called the wealthiest non-profit in the world — seems to have no interest in actually preventing the disease, but rather focuses on “recruiting” more women into conventional cancer treatments that earn billions of dollars in profits for their primary financial supporters.
Breast Cancer Action has an important message for consumers: Think Before You Pink. It means, essentially, don’t be hoodwinked into buying “pink” products unless you know exactly how much money is going to cancer research and where the money’s going. A lot of the “pink products” money goes to the Susan G. Komen foundation, which in my opinion is another useless nonprofit engaged primarily in pleasing the interests of its big corporate supporters rather than actually doing anything useful to prevent cancer. Read the book Pink Ribbons, Inc. to learn more about what happens behind closed doors at the Susan G. Komen foundation.
As Breast Cancer Action points out, a lot of the “pink products” marketing is nothing more than Pinkwashing — a ploy by product marketers to boost sales of products that actually contribute to breast cancer risk! Many cosmetics and personal care products, for example, are loaded with cancer-causing chemicals that soak right through the skin and enter the bloodstream, and yet these products proudly display pink ribbons, enticing gullible women to purchase them while thinking they’re doing something useful to stop breast cancer.
If it wasn’t for the fact that so many women are being killed by toxic products, it would all be quite hilarious. But the sad fact is that product marketers are exploiting both the pocketbooks and bodies of women in a quest to generate more profits at any cost… including the cost in human lives.
Fighting to prevent cancer prevention
It is interesting to note that with all the toxic chemicals found in personal care products these days, the American Cancer Society has actually fought laws and initiatives that would have helped prevent cancer. As Samuel Epstein explains on www.PreventCancer.org, “The ACS has a longstanding track record of indifference and even hostility to cancer prevention. This is particularly disturbing in view of the escalating incidence of cancer now striking one in two men and one in three women in their lifetimes. Recent examples include issuing a joint statement with the Chlorine Institute justifying the continued global use of persistent organochlorine pesticides, and also supporting the industry in trivializing dietary pesticide residues as avoidable risks of childhood cancer. ACS policies are further exemplified by allocating under 0.1 percent of its $700 million annual budget to environmental and occupational causes of cancer.”
You can read the incredible history of the ACS’s opposition to regulation of toxic chemicals here: http://www.preventcancer.com/losing/acs…

Business as usual in the cancer industry
The cancer industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that preys upon the bodies of women, exploiting them for profit and power. And if nothing changes, we’ll continue to see the same madness that brought us to this point:
• Cancer non-profits that appear to have no interest in preventing cancer
• The marketing of pink ribbon products that actually cause cancer
• The routine censorship of any information about vitamin D, which cures cancer
• A complete failure of the mainstream media to report the truth about cancer
• Complete failure of conventional doctors and oncologists to recommend safe, natural and low-cost cancer therapies like medicinal mushrooms, microalgae, rainforest herbs and sunlight therapy
Add it all up and you get a future with a whole lot more cancer. Not coincidentally, that’s exactly what Big Pharma wants! The more cancer patients there are, the greater their profits. Actually preventing cancer would devastate the industry’s profits, costing them billions of dollars in profits they’ve already banked on! That’s why the industry remains so focused on screening and detecting cancer but not preventing it! (Detection makes money, prevention loses money. Get it?)
Difficult to believe? Don’t be naive…
I know a lot of people read this and think to themselves, “How could the cancer industry be so evil? How could they exploit the lives of women so callously?” Think Enron. Corporations are, by their very nature, domineering entities capable of great evil, even when the people who work in those corporations might be honest, hard-working individuals. In our current system of free market economics, only the strong, dominant corporations survive. And that requires maximizing revenues and creating new opportunities to sell more drugs to more people, regardless of the real cost in human suffering or environmental destruction.
Many of the cancer non-profits have become little more than front groups for the corporations that make money off of cancer. They act as commercial cheerleading squads, pumping up the crowd to go get screened and hopefully get diagnosed with cancer so they’ll end up buying high-profit chemotherapy drugs.
New research, by the way, shows that chemotherapy drugs cause heart damage to women, leading to heart failure. Even mainstream oncologists are starting to think that maybe the industry should stop using these toxic drugs to treat breast cancer. As Dr. Pamela Douglas, a
But they’re really great for the bottom-line profits of pharmaceutical corporations. And that’s the whole reason why screening and chemotherapy continues to be so strongly promoted by cancer non-profit groups, even while highly-effect prevention strategies (vitamin D prevents 77 percent of ALL cancers) are routinely ignored.
I say the cancer industry actually intends to keep the disease going as long as possible, with as many people as possible in order to maximize profits. Anyone who disagrees with me must ask the all-important question: If these cancer non-profits are so interested in preventing cancer, why won’t they strongly recommend vitamin D which prevents 77 percent of all cancers? Why?
Why do we need to spend billions of dollars each year on “the search for the cure” when we have a substance right now — available for free — that prevents nearly 8 out of 10 cancers in the first place? A 77 percent reduction in all cancers sounds like a pretty important milestone to me. Seems like any organization that was actually interested in the welfare of the people would express some degree of interest in this natural vitamin, wouldn’t you think?
Think Before You Pink
Don’t be a sucker for cancer marketing schemes. Don’t support pink products, and don’t be fooled into getting annual mammograms (which actually cause cancer, by the way). Think before you pink! And get more sunlight and vitamin D. That’s the single most powerful thing you can do to prevent breast cancer, other than perhaps quitting smoking. But if you don’t smoke already, getting sunlight and vitamin D is the single most important thing you can do to prevent cancer, period!
Here’s the full press release from Breast Cancer Action (www.BCAction.org)
Breast Cancer Action Launches 6th Year of Think Before You Pink
Since its inception in 2002, BCA’s Think Before You Pink campaign has been urging consumers to ask critical questions about the hundreds of pink ribbon products and promotions that are marketed every October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCA calls it Breast Cancer Industry Month). Calling for transparency and accountability from companies that use pink ribbons to sell products, BCA believes that consumers can and should ask questions about how the money is being raised and where the money is going.
The big question of the campaign this year is which companies are engaging in pink ribbon marketing while manufacturing products that are contributing to the epidemic. Toward this end, BCA is singling out the car, dairy, and cosmetics industries.
“These pinkwashing companies are trying to have it both ways,” says BCA Executive Director Barbara A. Brenner. “If they care as deeply as they say they do about women’s lives, they’ll clean up their products.”
For example, Ford, Mercedes, and BMW are each raising funds with campaigns that urge consumers to buy and drive cars for breast cancer awareness and research. However, car exhaust contains toxic chemicals that are linked to the disease, and by urging consumers to buy and drive polluting cars in the name of breast cancer, they are also encouraging consumers to unwittingly help increase the incidence of the disease.
“We’re not telling anyone not to buy these products or not to drive,” says Brenner. “We’re asking that consumers think before they buy, contact the companies to demand cleaner products, and remember that they have options. That’s why it’s called ‘Think Before You Pink’.”
The Think Before You Pink web site, features an updated “Parade of Pink,” a list of some of the hundreds of pink ribbon products and promotions on the market, as well as a list of the six critical questions consumers can ask before buying a pink ribbon-wrapped product.
Breast Cancer Action (www.bcaction.org) is a non-profit education and advocacy organization that does not accept funding from pharmaceutical companies or any other organizations that profit from or contribute to the breast cancer epidemic.
